Trevor Babajack Steger with Jesse Benns
Thursday 19.15 - 20.15

Trevor Babajack Steger is an award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a string of accolades, chart-topping albums, and sold-out shows across the UK and Europe, including Italy, Poland, Spain, Portugal, France, and Germany. He is the recipient of the British Blues Awards Best Acoustic Act, as well as numerous nominations and finalist spots. His music has been championed by Cerys Matthews on BBC Radio 2 and Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music, with airplay on countless stations worldwide.

Trevor’s sound is impossible to pin down. At first glance, "Acoustic Blues" might seem fitting, but it barely scratches the surface. His raw, ferocious energy, growling vocals, and masterful musicianship—on harmonica, National guitar, lap steel, and more—create a sound that defies categorization. Some call it Punk Blues, Swamp, Power Acoustic, Raw Roots—but none quite capture it. Think Tom Waits meets Sonny Terry, with guitar chops that rival the best in blues, folk, Americana, and beyond. This also doesn't begin to do justice to Trevor's soulful and gentle side - he has numerous songs in his repertoire that are in equal terms melodic, heart wrenching and beautiful. His music shifts effortlessly from haunting and atmospheric to gritty and foot-stomping, demanding to be experienced live.

Critics and audiences alike have sung his praises. Blues in Britain hails him as "one of our finest and most original bluesmen." Blues Matters calls him a "master craftsman." His 2025 album, Six Foot Ten—which hit #1 on the British Blues Chart—has been described as "a masterpiece, a true work of musical artistry" (Blues in Britain) and "a future classic" (Folk & Tumble).

As well as performing solo, Trevor regularly appears alongside acclaimed percussionist Jesse Benns, who has been credited by many as reinventing how to play a cajon. Jesse has been described by Paul Jones (of Manfred Mann & BBC Radio 2) as "The most watchable musician I've ever seen," by Freddy Vandervelpen of Rootsville as "a masterful percussionist" and Barry Hopwood of Barry's Blues Barn as "The best Cajón player I have ever seen." Away from his work with Trevor, Jesse is best known for his work with Thrown Together, The Hawthornes, Glymjack and The Gerry Colvin Band. Jesse has also been recognised and endorsed by Meinl Percussion, who are considered one of the leading Percussion and Cymbal manufacturers in the world.
